Commons Josaphat (or Josaphat en commun in its original French name) is a very interesting case of collective mobilization and reflection on alternative urban development and socio-economic models towards a more sustainable, caring and sharing city for the common good.
What differs this movement from other communities of collective deliberation is their on-site approach, as they have already been experimenting on the alternatives conceived in the publicly owned Josaphat plot in Brussels while the Regional administration was developing the formal “business-as-usual” urban plan.
Due to the multiple perspectives and aspects of “the commons” involved, the initiative has been analysed and shared in multiple blogs on P2P and sharing economies among others, here an example explaining the evolution of the project.
This initiative has been regarded as a Flemish reference for the development of the SI4SD research project.
